Newton - Burger King

is our somewhat regular Sunday ride. Summers we usually headout at around 8ish, but today we waited until noon, when the temps had risen to almost 40. This is a pretty nice ride with not too much auto traffic. Up and back I today I got in 48 miles, in almost 3 hrs. Our normal stop in the Burger King for a frozen Coke. I normally get something else to fuel the trip home. Our group size is maybe as little as 4, and as many as maybe 12 on a good day. Today was nice, a little south breeze, sunny and temps may have reached 50.

What a difference a week makes!

It finally warmed up enough to go for a ride without wearing enough clothes to make one feel like the Michelin man. A couple of layers, no booties and you're good to go. Today's ride was a loop around Wichita, mostly on our bike path. We met at Sedgwick County Zoo parking lot and headed south, with 10 riders. In the summer, I would have a real tough time staying with this group for 42 miles. Our bike path took us south along the Arkansas river, east across town on the path and streets. We went north on 127th st. east, hopped a fence at the highway and headed north and west along the path. We finished our ride by riding through the 'hood' and through the Riverside neighborhood.

Tomorrow's ride schedule is to ride to the Burger King in Newton, should be able to get in 60 clicks, looking forward to that. Today I went out on the Salsa cross bike, tomorrow should be a good day on the new Giant.
